Jazz Piano Skills 101

Day 5 - Bringing it all Together

Welcome to Day 5 of Jazz Piano Skills 101!

Congrats!  You’ve made it to Day 5 of our Jazz Piano Skills 101 course!  Now we’re going to take every voicing you’ve learned so far and put it all together into the full version of “Winter Trees”.

This is one way to go through the tune with the voicings we’ve learned, so feel free to go over the tune again starting with the other voicing we learned for that respective chord. In this way you are able to grab either voicing at any point in the song.

The ability to grab a voicing at any time is a sign that you have truly mastered it. Again, you should practice these out-of-time, and then once your hands are familiar with them, play them in-time using a metronome.

If you can comp through Winter Trees at different tempos (slow, mid, and fast), with the all of the voicings memorized, you have reached full mastery of this course.

Where do you go from here?

After completing this course, you’ve now been introduced to the basics of playing jazz piano and have acquired several of the fundamental voicings that every jazz pianist uses. We wish the best of luck on your musical journey and if you enjoyed learning with us, we offer more courses and free resources for all musicians at www.jazzmemes.org.

If you enjoyed this free course, sign up with the form below to get notified when we release our more in-depth piano course teaching two-handed voicings and jazz improvisation technqiues.
